Update Forms: An information update form has been included in this
mailing. We ask that all members, including Inactive Members, & Honorary
Members to complete these forms and return them as soon as possible. Some of our
members have not filled one out in years and we like to keep all the directory
information current. It only takes a few minutes to fill out the form, and we
supply the return envelope and postage. We also ask any member that has decided
not to return to the association to return the form with just your name and
proper box checked off. Any Honorary member that wishes to continue umpire games
please check off both Active, & Honorary boxes.

to be added to your dues at a rate of $5.00 per week. Mandatory
Field Mechanics Clinic: This year the Executive board
voted to start holding clinics on field mechanics. At the last M.B.U.A. meeting
it was discussed what area that most association were lacking in their training
and every board present, it was in Field Mechanics. The S.M.U.A. is one of only
a couple of association that does not hold an annual field mechanics clinic for
its membership. The E-board felt very strongly about this issue, and realized
that our association was falling behind in this vital training. We have secured
the gym and baseball field at Massasoit Community College on Saturday March 20,
& Sunday March 21, 2010. The clinics will run from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on
both days. All members are required to attend at least 1 of the clinic dates.
You will receive a meeting credit for attending 1 of the clinics. If you attend
both days you still will only receive 1 meeting credit. Those of you that attend
other association’s Field Mechanics clinics you may receive credit for
attending it with written verification from that association’s secretary. M.I.A.A. Enrollment:
If you plan on umpiring any level of school baseball you must be
registered with the M.I.A.A. No school assignor can assign you any games if you
are not registered. Over the past 10 years the S.M.U.A. has registered all
active S.M.U.A. members as part of their dues. We will continue this practice
again this year. The M.I.A.A. requires that the enrollment forms be submitted no
later than March 1, 2010. If we enroll as an association the cost is only $6.00
per umpire. The S.M.U.A. enrolled 136 members in 2009 at a cost of $816.00. This
year to meet the M.I.A.A.’s deadline, any active S.M.U.A. member that will be
umpiring school baseball must return the information form, and pay their dues by
February 23, 2010. If your
dues are not paid by that date you will have to enroll with the M.I.A.A. as an
individual at a cost of $12.00 to you. For those of you that are members of
other associations, you only need to be registered with your primary
association. You do not gain anything from being registered by more than 1
association. High School Assignments:
